You will receive separate accounts from:

  • Braemar Hospital
  • Your surgeon
  • Your anaesthetist (where applicable)
  • Other services where applicable

The hospital fee covers accommodation, nursing services, theatre charges and medical supplies used in theatre and the ward and these are also included in the estimate of hospital fees. If physiotherapy or other services are required, you will receive an additional account.

Unless your surgeon advises you otherwise, the hospital fee figure is an estimate only. For example, an operation may take a shorter or longer time to complete, or you may require a longer stay in hospital than originally estimated. In most cases though your surgeon will be able to provide you with a reasonably accurate estimate.

We can email your hospital invoice to you if you provide your email details on your admission form.

Insured Patients

You will need to obtain prior approval from your health insurance company before your admission.

Please note that some policies do not cover all of your medical or surgical costs. There may also be exclusions on your policy.  If that is the case you will need to meet the cost not covered by your insurance company.

If your insurance company fails to make payment for any reason then you are still responsible for making the payment in full.

Uninsured Patients

You are responsible for making payment in full within 7 days of the date of invoice.

Some patients are required to pay upfront, this will be discussed as appropriate.

ACC Patients

ACC may not meet the full cost of your operation and stay at Braemar Hospital. For example ACC does not cover the cost of extra meals or phone calls. You will be expected to pay any additional costs either on discharge or within 7 days of the date of invoice.
