We’ve arrived!
It is fantastic to be settled into – and enjoying - our new hospital!
The Tainui Street hospital had served us and the greater Waikato community for many years but unfortunately could not accommodate our future needs.
In August 2005 we reached an agreement with The Salvation Army to purchase ‘The Nest’ site on the corner of Ohaupo Road and Kahikatea Drive and from then on planning began in earnest.
A great deal of planning goes into making a project of this size a successful one.
We have been fortunate to have around us a great bunch of professionals to help and guide us throughout the life of this project.
Our staff have spent many hours going over the design of the hospital to ensure that it would work as we intended and in detailing the features of every room.
Our vision was for a 5-star building that provided for the very best of care and comfort to our patients in a state-of-the art surgical hospital, all within a pre-determined budget – and that has been achieved.
The first patients at our new hospital were admitted on 14 April 2009.
One of the frequent compliments that we have had over the years has been to congratulate us for doing things the ‘Braemar way’. The new hospital is over twice the size of the Tainui Street hospital and it makes use of a great deal of modern technology. This has provided some challenges for us. Our staff have accepted those challenges and are doing a fantastic job in making sure that we continue to do things in the ‘Braemar way’.
Quality care does cost less at Braemar hospitals
